چکیده

Madrid, L. and De Arambarri, P., 1978. Adsorption isotherms and hysteresis of proton adsorption by goethite. Geoderma, 21: 199-208. The adsorption of H+ions by goethite is only partially reversible and the adsorption process is faster than desorption. The adsorptian isotherm shows two inflexion points at pH y,alues 7.5 and 9.5, which can be attributed to the existence of two ar more types of OH groups on the surface with different basic strengths. The lack of reversibility is attributed to partíal alterations of the surface by rearrangement of surface atoms although contributions of other phenomena to the overall process cannot be excluded.

Applications of goethite nanoparticles for removal of arsenic and mercury toxic ions from synthetic wastewater

Contamination of water resources with toxic elements is one of the challenges of thetoday's world. In this research, application of Goethite nanoparticles in removingcontamination of arsenic and mercury from synthetic wastewater in a batch mode isinvestigated. For this purpose, the effect of different factors including pH, adsorbent dosage,contac...

A modified Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm model for simulating pH-dependent adsorption effects.

Analytical isotherm equations such as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms are widely used for modeling adsorption data. However, these isotherms are primarily useful for simulating data collected at a fixed pH value and cannot be easily adapted to simulate pH-dependent adsorption effects. Therefore, most adsorption studies currently use numerical surface-complexation models (SCMs), which are more...

Simulated water adsorption isotherms in carbon nanopores

Water adsorption isotherms are calculated by grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations for the SPC/E water model in carbon nanopores at 298K. The pores are of slit or cylindrical morphology. Carbon-slit pores are of widths 0.8, 1.0 and 1.6 nm. The simulated single-walled carbon nanotubes are of 1.4 and 2.7 nm diameter ((10:10) and (20:20) respectively). In all cases considered, the adsorption iso...

1 1 Ju n 19 99 Threshold criterion for wetting at the triple point

Grand canonical simulations are used to calculate adsorption isotherms of various classical gases on alkali metal and Mg surfaces. Ab initio adsorption potentials and Lennard-Jones gas-gas interactions are used. Depending on the system, the resulting behavior can be nonwetting for all temperatures studied, complete wetting , or (in the intermediate case) exhibit a wetting transition. An unusual...

Water in carbon nanotubes: adsorption isotherms and thermodynamic properties from molecular simulation.

Grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations are performed to study the adsorption of water in single-walled (6:6), (8:8), (10:10), (12:12), and (20:20) carbon nanotubes in the 248-548 K temperature range. At room temperature the resulting adsorption isotherms in (10:10) and wider single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNs) are characterized by negligible water uptake at low pressures, sudden and complet...
